In the town centre you will see the main sights: the picturesque Le Castillet fortress - the symbol of the town - the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist and the town hall, housed in the medieval building of the maritime court, and you can buy souvenirs in the many small shops. We will then head to Collioure - the pearl of this coast. Collioure's picturesque setting and wonderful views have always attracted artists and poets; Cézanne, Chagall and Henri Matisse often stayed here.

Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 6: Costa Brava - Figueres - Girona - Costa Brava

Breakfast. Free time or an optional excursion - the Salvador Dalí Museum and Girona.

Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) was a celebrated artist of remarkable talent. He was, and remains, a unique phenomenon in the public life and culture of Spain.

The Salvador Dalí Museum is in his home town of Figueres. The artist first conceived the idea in 1960, and until its opening in 1974 he was entirely devoted to the project. The eccentric pink building, decorated with triangular bread rolls, holds a large part of his work: some of his most famous paintings, surrealist sculptures, a sofa in the shape of Mae West's scarlet lips and, of course, the artist's muse - his Gala (Elena Dyakonova, his irreplaceable and adored wife and adviser).

The excursion continues in Girona - a museum city and the capital of one of the four provinces of Catalonia. On the banks of the river Onyar, the city attracts thousands of visitors with its old architecture. The cathedral with the widest Gothic nave in the world, the 12th-century Arab baths, the Jewish quarter and the narrow cobbled streets create the authentic medieval atmosphere for which, in 2015, Girona was chosen as a filming location for one of the best-known modern series, “Game of Thrones”. The bridges over the Onyar and the colourful houses along its banks add to the city's charm.

Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 7: Costa Brava

Day 8: Costa Brava - Tossa de Mar - Barcelona - Sofia

Breakfast. Check-out. Free time or an optional excursion to Tossa de Mar.

Travelling along the scenic road to Tossa de Mar, you will be able to enjoy not only the beauty of one of the most famous stretches of coast but also learn about the life and traditions of the towns along the way, which attract thousands of visitors from all over the world every year.

Tossa de Mar is one of the most romantic towns on the Costa Brava. In the distant past its bay served as a harbour for pirate ships, but in the early 20th century it became a favourite holiday spot for many Europeans. The painter Marc Chagall lived and worked in Tossa de Mar, but the town owes its rise to the actress Ava Gardner, who filmed “Pandora and the Flying Dutchman” here and returned for years to holiday in her “blue paradise”. The beauty of the town's bay, framed by rugged cliffs, walks through the old walled town founded in the Middle Ages and the charming streets of the new town with white houses and souvenir shops are among visitors' favourite routes on the Costa Brava.

According to one legend, in the 9th century some young shepherds were blessed with a divine vision. They saw a radiant light descending over Montserrat mountain and heard angelic voices. The phenomenon was repeated on several consecutive Saturdays. Later, the statue of the Black Virgin Mary was found in a cave at the top of the mountain.

A visit to Montserrat combines nature, history and spirituality - an experience that leaves a lasting memory and a sense of peace and inspiration.

Very close to Perpignan, on the French Côte Vermeille (the Vermilion Coast), lies the pearl of this coast - the town of Collioure. In the Middle Ages the kings of Majorca chose it as their residence. At the end of the 17th century Vauban, military architect to King Louis XIV, built a fortress that is still important to the French armed forces today. Collioure's picturesque setting and wonderful views have always attracted many artists and poets; Cézanne, Chagall and Henri Matisse often stayed here.

This interesting trip to France will let you get to know its history and culture more closely.
