Cordoba is an important tourist centre, famous for its architecture from the time when it was the capital of the Caliphate of Cordoba, which covered almost the entire Iberian Peninsula. The city lies near the slopes of the Sierra Morena, on the right bank of the Guadalquivir river. Cordoba has a rich history and was founded in the days of ancient Rome, which is why magnificent architectural monuments from different eras can be seen in the old town. The Roman bridge, still standing today, was built in the 1st century BC on the site of an earlier wooden bridge. It spans the Guadalquivir with 16 arches and is 9 metres wide and 247 metres long. In the past the Roman bridge was part of the city walls; today it links Cordoba with the Calahorra tower. Right next to the Roman bridge stands the famous Mezquita. Under the rule of Abd al-Rahman II a bone of the Prophet Muhammad was kept in the mosque, which made the Mezquita an extremely important place for pilgrims. Over the years it underwent many changes. Each new ruler left his mark on its architecture, while all the colonnades of arches with alternating red and white stones were preserved. Later Cordoba joined the Christian world when it was taken by Ferdinand III. He did not destroy the mosque but consecrated it; it was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and has since been a place of worship for the Christian community. We will head to the impressive view of the Mezquita's bell tower from the Street of Flowers - the most popular and photographed street in Cordoba. It is a narrow cobbled lane between little white houses, which today are souvenir shops, and it ends in a small square full of flowers.

Seville is one of the most iconic cities in Spain and the administrative centre of the autonomous region of Andalusia. It lies on a great river, the Guadalquivir. According to legend the city was founded by Hercules, but in reality its founder was Julius Caesar. Seville was influenced by the Roman Empire and the Moors, but its true heyday came after the Age of Discovery, when its “golden age” began. Seville Cathedral, Santa María de la Sede (Catedral de Santa María de la Sede), is the third largest in the world after St Peter's in Rome and St Paul's in London. It is remarkable for its enormous size and is considered the largest Gothic church in Europe. Its foundations were laid in 1402 on the site of a Moorish mosque badly damaged in an earthquake in 1356. Soon after Ferdinand III conquered Seville, the mosque was turned into the city's cathedral, which required changing its orientation according to Christian practice. Interestingly, Santa María de la Sede was built in less than a century and finally completed in 1520. The cathedral holds many treasures. Its interior is truly impressive and richly gilded. Here you can see some of the greatest works of art, including paintings by Murillo, Diego Velázquez, Francisco de Zurbarán and Goya. Santa María de la Sede is also famous for holding the remains of Christopher Columbus. His sarcophagus, the work of the sculptor Arturo Mélida, rests on the shoulders of four figures symbolising the four kingdoms of Spain in Columbus's time - Castile, Aragon, Navarre and León. The Giralda tower, which today houses the cathedral's bell tower, was once a minaret. It is now the symbol of Seville and rises to a height of 114 m, with 22 harmoniously tuned bells at the top. A steep ramp leads up the 98-metre tower. In the past the muezzin rode up it on horseback to call people to prayer. Today visitors climb on foot to enjoy a wonderful panorama of the city. Together with the Alcázar palace and the Archive of the Indies, Seville Cathedral was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. We will then head to the Plaza de España - an impressive architectural complex built for the Ibero-American Exposition held in Seville in 1929. The aim of the Expo was to bring Spain closer to its many former colonies. The architect Aníbal González designed the square to impress all exhibitors and visitors from Spain and Latin America. The Plaza de España was the exhibition's administrative office and its most imposing building. It is a semicircular brick building in Renaissance/Neo-Moorish style with towers at both ends. In front of it runs a 500-metre canal that follows the curve of its façade, where you can hire small boats. Four bridges cross the canal, with the square itself in the centre. Each of the four bridges symbolises one of the ancient Spanish kingdoms: Castile, Navarre, Aragon and León. The complex is decorated with colourful ceramic tiles typical of Seville, which add extra elegance to the architecture. Along the wall there are 48 small alcoves made for the Ibero-American Exposition. Instead of temporary pavilions, each province built its own permanent one, each dedicated to a province of Spain and decorated with intricately illustrated ceramic tiles. A curious fact: scenes from the film Star Wars were shot in the Plaza de España. Other interesting sights you can visit on your own include the Alcázar of Seville, the General Archive of the Indies, the Golden Tower (Torre del Oro) and the Metropol Parasol.

Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon, who reconquered the Christian lands from the Moors and laid the foundations of modern Spain, are buried here. Don't miss the old Albaicín quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989. It lies at the foot of the hill opposite the Alhambra and is also called the “White Quarter” because of the colour of its buildings. It is undoubtedly one of the most impressive places in Granada, with small narrow streets that attract many visitors.

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory. Its only settlement is the town of Gibraltar. It is one of the most wonderful places on Earth, lying between Europe and Africa, and is especially interesting for its exotic nature. Its most distinctive feature is the sheer rock rising to a height of 426 m - one of the best-known sights in the region. At the top of the Rock of Gibraltar there is a nature reserve, home to about 300 Barbary macaques. During the tour of Gibraltar you can see some of the tunnels dug by the British army over more than 200 years. They form a network of passages inside the rock that were used as a military facility, barracks and hospitals. A small part of the tunnels has been turned into museums, where you can see various guns and reconstructions. Heading south, we will reach Europa Point, home to Gibraltar's lighthouse. On clear days you can see part of North Africa. The tour continues to another interesting sight - St. Michael's Cave. Only a few of its halls are open to visitors. The cave is lit in different colours and fitted with seats and a stage for performances; the “Miss Gibraltar” contest is held here every year. Near the cave is the den of the Barbary macaques. There is even a belief that when the monkeys leave the peninsula, the British will leave with them. In your free time you can stroll along Gibraltar's main shopping street - Main Street, with many small shops and restaurants. Close to Main Street are the Anglican church and the Gibraltar National Museum, with many exhibits on the history and culture of the local people.

Ronda is a fairy-tale town perched on cliffs, at 950 m above sea level. It is known for its steep setting and unique views, and for the deep El Tajo gorge cut by the Guadalevín river. Ronda's most famous sight is the iconic Puente Nuevo bridge, linking the old and new parts of the town. It is about 130 metres high. The “New Bridge” is first on the list of sights you must see in Ronda, and we guarantee you will be amazed by the incredible view of the mountains and the El Tajo canyon. The bridge was first built in 1735 at the initiative of King Philip V. Construction took 8 months, but the bridge soon collapsed, killing 50 people. Work later began again and took more than 40 years. The bridge has become the modern symbol of Ronda. In the new part of Ronda stands one of the town's most curious buildings - the convent church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced, built in the 16th century together with a convent of the Carmelite order. Religious processions start from here, with pilgrims carrying a statue of the Virgin. The church is famous for holding, for centuries, a holy relic - the incorrupt hand of Saint Teresa of Ávila. Here you can also taste and buy biscuits and sweets made by the nuns. We will then head to the impressive bullring (Plaza de Toros). Ronda is considered the birthplace of modern bullfighting. The bullring was built in the 18th century and is among the oldest. It houses one of the most famous bullfighting schools in Spain. Here a new style of bullfighting began, in which the bullfighter faces the bull on foot instead of on horseback. One of the most famous bullfighting families in Spain - the Romero family - comes from Ronda. The best known of them is Pedro Romero, who killed over 5,600 bulls and remained unharmed.
