Known as “the Turkish Saint-Tropez", Bodrum has long been a magnet for artists, writers and travellers looking for something different from standard mass tourism. Most hotels here slope gently down the hilly shore straight to the warm, calm waters of the Aegean Sea, and the resort itself has been declared a cultural monument.
History can be felt at every step here: the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus - one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - stands alongside the Ancient Theatre, where 13 000 spectators once watched performances and which still hosts concerts today. Less than 20 km away is Ephesus, home to another of the Seven Wonders - the Temple of Artemis - and just a boat ride away lies the Greek island of Kos, the birthplace of Hippocrates, where he himself took the legendary oath and taught his students.
The day in Bodrum does not end at sunset - the seaside restaurants serve the famous Aegean cuisine until late, and the night continues in some of the liveliest clubs on the entire Aegean coast, among them the legendary Halikarnas and Catamaran. All that is left is to choose a date and a hotel - we take care of the rest.
